Chris Noth wurde am 13. November 1954 in Madison, Wisconsin geboren.

Da seine Mutter als Reporterin arbeitete kam er viel herum und wuchs unter anderem in Spanien, England und Jugoslawien auf. Sein Filmdebüt gab Chris Noth in „Jakarta". Bekannt wurde er vor allem als „Mr. Big" in der Fernsehserie „Sex and the City", den er auch in den Kinofilmen „Sex and the City - Der Film" und „Sex and the City 2" verkörperte, und durch seine Darstellung des Detective Mike Logan in den TV-Serien „Law & Order" und „Criminal Intent". Chris Noth spielte auch in Filmen wie „Cast Away" oder „The Perfect Man".

Seine deutsche Stimme wird Chris Noth von Tom Vogt geliehen.
