Der afro-amerikanische Schauspieler Cuba Gooding junior wurde am 2. Januar 1968 in  der Bronx, New York City geboren.
Nach der Highschool studierte Cuba Gooding junior japanischen Kampfsport, wechselte dann zur Schauspielerei. Er startete seine Karriere mit Gastauftritten in "Hill Street Blues" und „MacGyver". Seine erste Hauptrolle erhielt Cuba Gooding junior 1991 in „Boyz n the Hood".
Große Bekanntheit erlangte Cuba Gooding junior 1996 für seine Darstellung in „Jerry Maguire", wofür er mit einen Oscar als bester Nebendarsteller ausgezeichnet wurde.
