Uma Thurman startete ihre berufliche Laufbahn nach dem Vorbild ihrer Mutter als Fotomodell, bevor sie für´s Kino entdeckt wurde. Bereits mit 18 Jahren spielte sie eine Hauptrolle in „Gefährliche Liebschaften". Schlagartig international bekannt wurde Uma Thurman 1994 durch die Rolle der Mia Wallace in Quentin Tarantinos Kultfilm „Pulp Fiction", die ihr eine Oscar-Nominierung einbrachte. 2003 erhielt sie für ihre Rolle in dem Fernsehfilm „Hysterical Blindness" den Golden Globe und hatte als rächende Braut in Tarantino´s „Kill Bill" - Volume 1 und Volume 2 weitere Erfolge. 2005 spielte sie in der Komödie „Couchgeflüster" eine Frau Ende Dreißig, die sich in einen 15 Jahre jüngeren Mann verliebt, der auch noch der Sohn ihrer Therapeutin (dargestellt von Meryl Streep) ist. In der Komödie „Die Super Ex" (2006) trat Uma Thurman als Superheldin auf, die sich an ihrem Exfreund rächt. 2007 war Uma Thurman in dem für das Internet inszenierten Action-Kurzfilm „Mission Zero" zu sehen.
